Twenty Twenty Five
N.B. This is a piece shared mainly between the author and friends, and is best approached as such. Also, not mobile friendly!
Every year, for the past decade or so, I have made a 'cover art' piece to mark the new year. In recent years these have been made with code, and are interactive. This one is no different. It is a visualisation of the beautiful, rhythmic formations generated by a Boid routine, connected to a "cut-up" interactive poem meditating on the atmosphere (this cycles on screen entry 30 seconds - click on the words and see if / how it changes). The source text for the poem was derived from Sounding the Ocean of Air by Abbott Lawrence Rotch (1900), and the engine for the piece is three.js. Aeolian harp background ambience is from Freesound
The atmospheric theme for this year's cover art is informed by a few upcoming projects that will centre on the skies above and our (digital) relationships to them.
